Need For Speed Most Wanted Remastered Torrent is a well-rounded, demanding, and significant racing game that’s worth your attention on any platform, including this latest iteration on Xbox 360. It brings back the series to its police pursuit roots while integrating urban automobiles, subculture, and an impressive showcase of stylized FMV without neglecting the basics: Individuals enjoy piloting sleek, high-speed vehicles, they crave more than just a bit of liberty, and if there are attractive women too? Even better.
The plot follows a typical Saturday morning special storyline. It weaves an uninspired tale of vengeance and reinstatement of order, and the antagonists, Razor, and the local law enforcer who maliciously damages your vehicle at the onset of the game, are sufficiently irritating and malevolent to provoke frustration. From an imaginative perspective, the narrative holds little value, but EA enjoyed its trial run with Brooke Burke last year in NFSU2 and retained a less aloof, angular female persona to narrate this game alongside Josie Maran (who, in my view, is sleek, curvaceous, and far superior at her role than the frosty Burke). Consequently, you’ll find yourself wanting to connect with her as frequently as possible.
However, there’s more to it. The tutorials and blacklist characters are introduced with panache and a friendly attitude. Entire sections of the backdrop dramatically fall into place to form a setting before you initiate a race, and the entire presentation is adorned with slick, stylish graffiti and flickering Fight Club imagery. I appreciate it all. Despite EA being a corporate, market-oriented conglomerate with monopolistic tendencies, and this potentially being just another endeavor to tap into the “underground street market,” it’s executed with captivating artistry and intelligent flair.
Depending on the version you acquire, you’ll also experience varying visual technicalities. The PC, GameCube, and Xbox editions exhibit minimal to no flickering or aliasing, while the limitations of the PS2 version become immediately apparent. The Xbox 360 version, indisputably the most visually striking of the lot, offers several graphical enhancements you won’t find in the other iterations. EA employed laser scanning for each car, resulting in an even more lifelike appearance for each vehicle, and its Canadian development team employed normal mapping on both the vehicles and the streets, granting them a sharp, defined look. Similar to the streets in NFSU, the roads appear wet despite being dry, a consequence of normal mapping certain obstacles. However, since you’re typically driving swiftly over them, you might not even notice.
Another visual highlight lies in the tree shadows, which now cast dynamic shadows rather than static ones, thanks to EA’s advancements in the lighting system. If you’ve witnessed the dynamic lighting in contemporary generation games, then you’re in for a treat with this next-gen title. The sunlight appears to descend in clear, sharp beams, and upon striking the cars, it reflects off every surface, including the rims, bumpers, windows, fenders, grills, and more. Additionally, the 1080i and 720p modes offer superior visuals compared to the 480p modes, although the disparity in this game is less pronounced than one might anticipate. There are subtle improvements, such as sharper, more curved surfaces on the vehicles themselves and general objects, but the variance isn’t extensive.
NFS Most Wanted Remastered Torrent has truly come together nicely. The stylish presentation and graphical aesthetics are impressive, and they’re complemented by superb engine sound effects and intelligent cop banter. The 360 version boasts cars with exceptionally high polygon counts, providing great definition and geometry, and the lighting is top-notch. The game maintains a solid 30 FPS on Xbox 360, although occasional hitching and pauses may occur due to loading issues or disc formatting on the retail builds. And while the sensation of speed may not be immediately palpable in the initial hour or so of gameplay, just wait. Win a few races, upgrade your vehicles, and before you know it, you’ll be blazing ahead.
