Cricket 22 Torrent
Cricket 22 Torrent is a cricket game developed by Big Ant Studios and published by Nacon. The people at Big Ant Studios have been carrying the responsibility of creating good Cricket games for some time now, and after taking a break following Cricket 19, they’re back with Cricket 22, a game that promises significant improvements to the series’ formula. Thankfully, for Cricket fans, there’s lots of fun to be found here – but mainly because there just aren’t many other options available. Cricket 22 is a decent, enjoyable game, but it’s a bit rough around the edges and not as much of an improvement over its predecessor as many would have wanted.
The pitches and stadiums look plain and lacking in detail, with the crowds and distant background elements especially looking rough and muddy. The sound design is underwhelming, and the crowds don’t sound as lively as they should. Given the slow pace of Cricket, you’re not going to get the same stadium atmosphere as you would in a fast-paced game like soccer, but even the T20 finals in this game feel disappointingly dull. It doesn’t help that the commentary sounds completely lifeless like they’re bored and would rather be anywhere else. But clearly, Cricket 22’s commentators disagree.
But you have to consider the overall situation – Cricket doesn’t have as many fans in gaming as soccer does, and this game was made by a much smaller team with fewer resources than big studios like EA Sports or 2K. Cricket 22 was never going to be a super-polished game with top-notch visuals and sound, and if you adjust your expectations accordingly, you won’t be too disappointed. It’s still disappointing though, especially because Cricket 22 doesn’t seem to have improved much over Cricket 19 in this area.
Fortunately, when it comes to the gameplay – which is what matters most – Cricket 22 is a much better experience. Batting is more enjoyable than bowling, which has always been the case in Cricket, and remains so in this game. There are two control schemes available, and while I prefer the arcade style, both are implemented pretty well. Timing your shots and choosing your strikes carefully remains consistently enjoyable. Whether you’ll enjoy playing through a full Test match depends on your patience and love for the sport, but for those looking for shorter bursts of fun, Cricket 22 has a simulation tool to help with that.
Bowling and fielding feel less polished than batting for various reasons. Fielding issues mainly stem from animations and the AI. Animations are choppy, and the AI is inconsistent. When fielding, your players can often move slowly, wasting crucial seconds between picking up the ball and throwing it back. When batting, opposing fielders often drop easy catches, which can break immersion.
Ultimately, the reason Cricket 22 Torrent is the best Cricket game in recent memory is simply because there haven’t been many others in recent years. In an ideal world, this game would be more polished and feature-rich with better AI and animations. But it doesn’t seem like we’re going to reach that point anytime soon, so for now, Cricket 22 is good enough.
