If the characters get battered in battle, they can be restored. Character stats only improve through practical experience; hence, if you desire robust individuals, they need to engage in combat. Limbs will be severed, arms will be forfeited. Fortunately, there’s a thriving limb replacement industry in the Kenshi world, so even these setbacks aren’t incapacitating.
Kenshi Torrent Magnet is challenging, yet it’s also surprisingly lenient simultaneously. The game operates on permadeath, but engaging in battles is a wise decision. If characters become enslaved or incarcerated by different factions, that turns out to be a blessing in disguise. Free healing and sustenance! Some of these mechanics are easy to exploit, but the world allows for experimentation, so feel free to explore.
There are various factions in the game, but I’ll just touch on the major ones. The Skeletons require no sustenance to endure but are detested by the Holy Nation, who will assail them on sight, and injuries cannot be healed conventionally. They necessitate specialized kits, which are costly. The Holy Nation comprises zealots who harbor animosity towards everyone, demand prayers daily, and will confront anyone who opposes them.
United Cities are fixated on wealth, wealth, wealth. Sheiks are formidable warriors who insist on food as compensation and will eliminate anyone involved in drug smuggling. The Hivers are delicate, insect-human beings but will assail in large numbers. Establishing a settlement in anyone’s territory comes at a price. The Holy Nation will arrive seeking tribute, Sheks demand food provisions, and United Cities require payments.
Kenshi Torrent boasts one of the most adept open worlds I’ve ever encountered in a video game. There’s such an abundance of options that it’s nearly overwhelming. I’ve seldom witnessed a game seamlessly integrate city-building, survival, open-world exploration, combat, and stealth mechanics so effectively, even if it must be forced at times. It’s not well-optimized, and the engine is glitchy. It struggles more than a train on a typical UK weekday, the graphics are occasionally unattractive, and the game lacks clear direction. All of these are challenges to grapple with.
